We Love La Cabrera!
Well, I admit that this blogpost is WAY overdue. I'll try to get back into the swing of things. Now that I am adjusted to living here, there don't seem to be as many 'new' things that pop out to me to write about. But, I'm sure there are and I will try to get better. I just said goodbye to mi prima Jane, who was here for a week visiting. We had a blast hanging out together, sharing my twin bed, and eatings lots of parilla. Jane flew in from NYC and arrived on a Saturday morning. I had a big break from school due to Semana Santa, so it was great timing. We managed to make it to Uruguay, the second time for me. It really is nice to get out of the city every now and then. It seemed deafening how quiet it was in Uruguay, and really showed how loud Buenos Aires is. Jane and I hit a lot of the standard tourist spots, but our focus - like that of my, Carly and Jenna's as well - was a lot of eating. We went to La Cabrera which is just beyond words delicious. Jane left Sunday night, leaving me feeling a tad homesick for MN I will admit! Now it is fall here in Buenos Aires, but it is still gorgeous and quite warm. Warm, not by BA standards, but it would be a nice summer day in Minnesota. I'm also wondering if it will be harder to be away from home while it is summer back home. Summer is the best time of the year in MN! Cabins, lakes, rooftop patios, the works. My next visitors will be Deb and Craig Christensen, who arrive mid-July in time for my 2 week break from class. I'm planning on milking their visit for all it's worth. Trips, shopping, eating out - prepare yourself, ma! We are hoping to go to Chile, and maybe a couple other stops that have yet to be determined.
Here are a few pictures of life in Buenos Aires. I feel settled here, which is weird to say, but it does feel like home right now. It also feels like 100 years ago that I was in Minneapolis. It's been over 3 months since I arrived in Buenos Aires, and I have about 8 more to go.. I know the time is going to fly so I am trying to soak up everything I can.
